So, DIGITAL PAINTING...what is it? Basically it is creating artwork on a computer or tablet, in my case an ipad pro. Let's NOT confuse Digital Painting with Photo Manipulation. Photo Manipulation is done with the use of an app that takes any photo and turns it into a "piece of art" while these apps can be very creative , and I have nothing against them, it is important, to me and other digital artists , not to confuse the two. (this is my granddaughter Tessa or "bean")
These are the four apps that i use the most. Sketchbook by Autodesk being #1 at the moment. This changes periodically, but for now it seems to do everything I want and need and probably a lot more. Some apps have more of a learning curve than others. Procreate, ArtRage and Sketchbook are pretty intense while Paper by 53 is fairly easy to learn but has its limitations. (but often limitations can be a bonus)
This is what my workspace looks like in Sketchbook. Pretty boring huh? Kind of like looking at a blank canvas!
My Digital Portraits are usually 200.00. This give you the full file which can be printed in any size and on anything...wrapped gallery canvas to a coffee mug! The files as you see them here or on facebook are small and do not print nicely. Portraits are done from photos and must be good clear pics! The childrens portraits you see here are exmples only...(because even though they are all stinking cute, they are, after all, other peoples kids).
